NFPA 1051 Wildland Fire Fighter
Course Description
This course is designed for Wildland Firefighters and satisfies the requirements of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1051 Standard for Wildland Firefighter Professional Qualifications, Chapters four "Wildland Fire Fighter I" and five "Wildland Fire Fighter II". This program has been designed to provide basic and advanced theoretical and practical knowledge required for Wildland Fire Fighting.
This course will cover the following chapters of the Firefighter's Handbook On Wildland Firefighting Strategy, Tactics and Safety 4th Edition (textbook not included):
1. Fireline Safety
2. Fire Weather
3. Topography and Fuels
4. Wildland Fire Behavior
5. Fireline Construction
6. Use of Water and Fire
7. Use of Firefighting Resources
8. Initial Attack: Strategies and Tactics
9. Wildland/Urban Firefighting: Strategies and Tactics
10. Incident Command System
11. Firefighting Realities
12. Map Reading
13. Fire Prevention
14. Hazardous Materials Recognition
15. Use and Care of Hand Tools
The CFRC splits this program into two parts, the online portion (this program), and the practical portion which is to be taken after the completion of the online program. Once both portions have been successfully completed, the student will be eligible to take the Pro-Board Certification exam and practical evaluation.
Pro Board Accredited
In order to receive the opportunity to be tested by the Pro Board® students learning to become Wildland firefighters must complete the practical learning component on site in addition to the successful completion of the online Wildland firefighter learning program.
